The Cytotechnologist prepares, screens, and evaluates cytologic specimens to detect cellular abnormalities for diagnostic interpretation. Ensures quality and accuracy of laboratory results in accordance with departmental procedures, CAP, CLIA, and Joint Commission standards. Performs bedside tissue adequacy assessments for bronchoscopy and interventional radiology procedures. Maintains compliance with all regulatory requirements and demonstrates service excellence in interactions with patients, providers, and staff.
This position provides cytology services at both Manatee Memorial Hospital and Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. Demonstrates Service Excellence at all times. Other duties as assigned.
Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida, has served the citizens of Manatee, Sarasota and surrounding counties for over 70 years. Services include cardiac care and cardiovascular medicine, emergency care for all ages, surgery services — including robotic-assisted surgery with the da Vinci® Surgical System, a weight-loss program, orthopedic services, outpatient and inpatient radiology and rehabilitation, respiratory care, sleep, oncology, wound care and women’s and children’s services.
Manatee Memorial Hospital also offers a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for babies with special needs.
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Completion of an accredited Cytotechnology program required
- State of Florida Clinical Laboratory Technologist License required
- State of Florida Clinical Laboratory Supervisor License required
- Cytotechnologist (CT) Certification required
- American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board Certification preferred
- Minimum one (1) year of Cytotechnologist experience preferred
