Salary: £49,000 - £52,000 DOE

Location: On-site - Manufacturing Facility

Hours: Full-Time | Day Shift

Direct Reports: Maintenance Technicians & Approved Contractors

Our client is seeking a hands‑on Maintenance Lead to take ownership of maintenance delivery across production equipment and site facilities. This is a working leadership role — you will spend the majority of your time on the shop floor diagnosing faults, repairing machinery and keeping production running, whilst coordinating the maintenance team and contractors.

• Perform hands‑on maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of production machinery
• Respond to breakdowns quickly to minimise downtime
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults
• Execute preventive maintenance and ensure PM schedules are completed
• Support installation and commissioning of new equipment
• Act as technical escalation point for complex or recurring failures

Maintain site infrastructure including:

• Electrical distribution & lighting
• HVAC and temperature control systems
• Compressed air, water and utilities
• Building fabric, doors, floors and general infrastructure

• Conduct routine inspections and resolve defects proactively
• Coordinate and supervise contractors safely and effectively

• Comply with H&S legislation and site procedures
• Enforce safe systems of work (LOTO, permits, risk assessments)
• Support audits and statutory inspections
• Promote a proactive safety culture

• Plan maintenance around production schedules
• Maintain accurate maintenance records
• Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Improve equipment reliability and maintenance practices
• Assist spare parts management and cost control

• Proven background as a Maintenance Engineer or Senior Technician
• Experience with in a manufacturing/production environment
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault‑finding ability
• Experience coordinating or leading maintenance activities
• Able to prioritise effectively in a reactive production environment

• Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering qualification
• Electrical competency certification
• IOSH / NEBOSH or similar safety training

• 60-70% hands‑on engineering / 30-40% leadership & planning
• Shop‑floor based manufacturing environment
• Combination of reactive, preventive and improvement‑driven maintenance
