Site Engineer - Earthworks

Carmichael UK is recruiting a Site Engineer with strong earthworks experience to support delivery on a major HS2 infrastructure package in Northamptonshire.

This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in one of the UK s largest and most complex civil engineering projects, working as part of an experienced site team on a long-term programme of works.

You will play a key role in the successful delivery of bulk earthworks and associated civils works, ensuring activities are carried out safely, accurately, and in line with programme requirements.

• Setting out and engineering control for bulk earthworks and groundworks

• Supporting site management with daily engineering activities

• Producing as-built records and QA documentation

• Managing subcontractors and ensuring works meet specification

• Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards

• Assisting with permits, temporary works, and site coordination

• Proven experience as a Site Engineer on earthworks-heavy civil engineering projects

• Background in highways, rail, or large infrastructure schemes

• Strong setting out skills using GPS / machine control (Trimble, Leica or similar)

• Good understanding of QA processes and engineering documentation

• CSCS card essential (SMSTS beneficial)

• Proactive, reliable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced site environment
