Registered Nurse; RN Casual-Call - Detention Center

Overview

This position is located in the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office Detention Division and is responsible, with the medical provider, for ensuring the delivery of health care in a timely and clinically appropriate manner to inmates and/or staff. The role ensures those served receive consistent and high‑quality care in accordance with established local, federal and state policies, procedures, regulations and guidelines. The position reports to the Detention Center Clinic Director.

• Provide professional medical care to inmates based on their specific needs, in collaboration with the medical provider.
• Ensure care is delivered in a timely and clinically appropriate manner and in compliance with applicable policies and regulations.
• Maintain accurate medical charts and records; handle sensitive and confidential information; communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
• Respond to emergency situations and establish cooperative relationships with staff, inmates, and external partners.
• Apply knowledge of corrections nursing, professional nursing, and medicine, including medical terminology, diagnostics, preventive care, pharmacology, immunizations, and equipment operation/maintenance.
• Maintain knowledge of inmate rights, safety hazards, and relevant policies and procedures; make independent determinations when required.

• Education:
  
  minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Professional Nursing.
• Licensure: current RN license; licensure granted by the Montana State Board of Nursing or equivalent.
• Experience:
  
  two (2) years of job-related work experience.
• Additional: ability to use a variety of medical equipment and tools; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
