Job Summary

Assists Controller in month-end closing, maintains balance sheet reconciliations, maintains & supports computer systems, reviews daily revenue report, tracks daily cash.

Responsibilities
  • Assists the Controller in operating the day to day operations of the department, following instruction to coordinate and administer plans for profit planning, sales forecasts, expense budgets, capital requirements, cost standards and procedures.
  • Administers all tax filing and government reporting procedures to ensure accurate, timely information is provided in compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Monitors compliance with hotel and accounting policies and procedures, legal requirements and contractual obligations; utilizes internal controls and auditing to protect the hotel's assets.
  • Reviews A/R credit applications prior to submission to the Controller.
  • Prepares and enters monthly journal entries and reviews preliminary P&L statements for errors prior to submitting to Controller; distributes preliminary P&L to Executive Committee Members.
  • Assists Controller with annual budget input and reports.
Guest Satisfaction
  • Ensures a high level of customer satisfaction and builds long-term mutually beneficial customer relationships.
  • Coordinates and communicates with customers (internal and external) and follows up as needed.
  • Displays leadership in guest hospitality and ensures consistent, high level service throughout all phases of hotel events.
  • Interacts with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels and responds to guest problems and complaints.
  • Emphasizes guest satisfaction during all departmental meetings and focuses on continuous improvement.
  • Utilizes hotel systems to capture and manage customer information on a daily basis.
Leadership
  • Holds self and others accountable for achieving results.
  • Addresses conflict in a timely manner and contributes to team results.
  • Deals with change effectively and makes decisions with available information.
Building Relationships
  • Fosters a positive climate for work relationships and teams committed to achieving organizational goals and initiatives.
  • Performs a combination of supportive functions as required by the supervisor, with time allocation determined by hotel needs.

  • Supports hiring from inside and outside, prioritizing talent, diversity, and balance of skills; maintains succession planning.
  • Provides and manages training initiatives; ensures completion of required training for self and direct reports.
  • Manages progressive discipline procedures and ensures policies are administered fairly and consistently.
  • Maintains open communication to align with business objectives, recognized performance, and desired results.
  • Solicits feedback and addresses employee concerns; focuses on retention and fair treatment.
  • Celebrates successes and maintains an ongoing employee recognition program.

  • Engages in departmental stand-up meetings and communicates information to staff when appropriate.

Experience

  • Requires managerial skill as the position involves frequent decisions, meeting deadlines, vendor contract negotiations, and coordination of large-scale projects.
