Position Summary

The Director of Case Management is responsible for assisting in the planning, direction, organization, monitoring, and staffing of the Case Management Department in alignment with policies, budgets, objectives, and directives as mandated by regulatory agencies, DNV, and the hospital executive team. This role provides oversight for case management, discharge planning, and utilization review. It also delivers leadership, supervision, and guidance to management, medical staff, resource personnel, and clinical staff in the execution of organization-wide case management initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Montana or Compact
  • Minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience in a high-volume case management program within a hospital or clinic setting

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, MBA, or a related field
  • Case Management leadership experience in a high-volume hospital or clinic setting
Essential Job Functions

In addition to the functions listed below, timely completion of all required education and training in accordance with DNV standards, Bozeman Health policies, and other regulatory requirements is mandatory.

  • Supports broad operational functions to ensure comprehensive departmental service delivery compliant with regulatory and healthcare system standards
  • Promotes a collaborative approach to long-term strategic and operational planning, care and service design, and policy development aligned with the organization’s mission
  • Provides oversight of department-wide services, with continuous assessment and improvement of departmental performance
  • Manages departmental resources responsibly and efficiently
  • Demonstrates both clinical/technical and managerial proficiency, ensuring the professional development of staff
  • Acts as a leader, educator, and motivator while upholding and modeling organizational behavioral standards
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proven leadership and managerial skills, including planning, delegation, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, patience, and a consistently professional demeanor
  • Ability to function effectively in high-pressure, fast-paced environments
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated analytical thinking, creativity, and sound decision-making
  • Exercises discretion, tact, sensitivity, and maintains strict confidentiality
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize effectively
  • Proficiency in standard office equipment and software applications, including Microsoft Office, EMR systems, and internet-based tools
Schedule Requirements
  • Regular and sustained attendance is required
  • May involve working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including evenings, weekends, or extended shifts
  • On-call availability may be necessary to respond to organizational, patient, or staff needs promptly
