Summary:

The Architectural Estimator at Johnson Metal Works helps us price projects accurately and set them up for success from the start. You'll work closely with architects, engineers, clients, and our internal project teams to review drawings, build takeoffs, and create clear bid proposals (including change orders when needed).

We're looking for the right person and we're happy to train someone who's motivated and wants to grow into the role.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Review drawings and information from architects, engineers, and clients
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs (primarily in Bluebeam)
Attend pre-bid meetings and keep communication flowing with stakeholders
Use market context and historical ERP data to build accurate pricing
Develop bid proposals quickly, including cost breakdowns and timelines (in our ERP system)
Manage and respond to RFIs (tracked and sent through ERP)
Ensure a smooth handoff of bid details to the Project Management team

Required Skills:

Strong organization and attention to detail
Solid analytical / problem-solving skills
Clear communicator who works well with others
Comfortable with Microsoft Office and estimating / construction management tools (Bluebeam, Procore, etc.)
Able to manage multiple bids at once and hit tight deadlines
Understanding of construction contracts, bid processes, and change order pricing

Education and Experience:

High school diploma (or equivalent) required
Degree in construction management, engineering, or related field is preferred
Estimating experience in construction and/or metalwork is strongly preferred

This role is office-based and not eligible for remote work.
