Position Overview

The Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship offers a Bachelor of Science in Business, concentrating in accounting. To accomplish our mission we seek experienced accounting professionals who can teach in fields such as tax, data analytics, cost/managerial accounting, governmental/non‑profit accounting, financial accounting, fraud examination, and auditing.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate accounting courses in on‑campus and/or online formats, ensuring high‑quality, engaging instruction.
  • Incorporate real‑world applications and experiential learning to enhance student understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Stay current with industry trends, professional standards, and advancements in accounting education to maintain course relevance.
  • Foster a welcoming and supportive learning environment.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Relevant accounting certification (CPA, CMA, CIA, CFE, etc.).
  • Ph.D. in Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in accounting.
  • Knowledge of current industry trends and practices in tax, data analytics, cost/managerial accounting, governmental/non‑profit accounting, financial accounting, fraud examination, and auditing.
Successful Candidate Will
  • Be committed to experiential learning, incorporating real‑world applications, case studies, and industry partnerships into teaching.
  • Be committed to supporting, mentoring, and inspiring students from all backgrounds.
  • Be committed to utilizing effective pedagogy that involves students in the learning process.
  • Have the ability to work well with faculty, staff, and students in a dynamic environment.

Union Information

The position may be a Union position. Any position that is .5 FTE or more is represented by the Associated Faculty of Montana State University (AFMSU). Faculty covered by AFMSU may choose to pay membership dues. This is a condition of employment. Any position less than .5 FTE is not represented by the Union and is not required to pay dues.
