Montana State University seeks qualified individuals to provide non‑tenurable level instruction in mathematics, mathematics education, and statistics. Instructors will be part of a non‑tenure‑track pool and may teach on‑campus courses depending on need and available funding. Appointments are typically part‑time, lasting a semester or an academic year, with salary commensurate with experience and the number of courses taught.
Responsibilities- Teach on‑campus courses in mathematics, mathematics education, and/or statistics.
- Advise, evaluate, and assist students.
- Participate in curriculum development and course design.
- Master’s degree in mathematics, mathematics teaching, statistics, or a closely related field.
- At least two years of teaching experience.
- Two or more years of teaching experience at the college or university level.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to relate to and establish rapport with a college student population.
- Good judgment and self‑motivation.
- Commitment to student success and quality teaching.
Special Requirements / Additional Information
The position may be a union position. Positions that are 0.5 FTE or greater are represented by the Associated Faculty of Montana State University (AFMSU) and may be required to pay member‑dues. Positions less than 0.5 FTE are not represented by the union and have no dues requirement. Changes in FTE may affect representational status. Exemptions apply to faculty who have successfully completed a PEI exam or work in Extension.

CollegeThe College of Letters & Science is the largest center for learning and research at MSU, offering nearly 50 majors and 25 minors across the humanities, natural sciences, mathematics, and social sciences.
