Zoot Adventure Learning Academy is now accepting applications for a full-time Early Childhood Hospitality Teacher
. Under the supervision of the Early Childhood Lead Teacher, the Early Childhood Teacher will assist in planning, creating, and implementing a program that fulfills children’s educational, developmental, cognitive, emotional and social needs. The position supports a safe, trusting on-site childcare environment for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, with direct access for parents during the workday.
- This position will be scheduled for 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday.
- Assist in preparing the childcare environment, setting up interest centers, preparing materials and supplies, and organizing special events from setup to tear down.
- Provide break coverage for all staff for lunch or lesson planning by stepping into each classroom as necessary while carrying out classroom schedules and activities as instructed.
- Respond to the children with dignity and respect.
- Help children become aware of their roles as integral members of a group.
- General knowledge of childcare skills such as diaper changes, toilet use, bottle and solid food feeding, naps, etc.
- Provide support to the entire center by washing and drying laundry, preparing and serving meals, removing, washing and storing dishes, etc.
- General cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting of the childcare center.
- Special event setup and tear down.
- Manage aspects of meal service including tracking daily attendance for meals, understanding safe food handling practices, and managing allergy alerts for children and their meals.
- Manage and maintain inventory lists including food, cleaning supplies, art supplies, and office supplies, and notify supervisor when inventory is low.
- Maintain professional attitude and loyalty to the center at all times.
- Attend all staff meetings, recommended training programs, and conferences.
- Ensure the confidentiality of all records of the children, families, and staff.
- Report any suspected abuse to Child Protective Services immediately.
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment per program goals and state regulations.
- Inspect and replace damaged or lost materials.
- Meet and maintain all applicable licensing regulations as required for Early Childhood Educators in a state-licensed center.
- Compliance with and knowledge of ZALA’s Policies and Procedures, Code of Business Conduct, and Employee Agreement.
- Achieve a service-focused culture with emphasis on delivering on-time, high-quality products and services to internal and external customers.
- Other duties as assigned – this list of major duties and responsibilities is not inclusive and may include assisting in other departments as needed.
This position requires:
- High School Diploma Preferred
- Certifications
- Adult/Infant First Aid/AED/CPR Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
- Valid State of Montana Driver License with clean driving record.
- Current Immunizations:
- Tetanus (within the past 10 years)
- MMR (measles/mumps/rubella)
- Previous childcare experience with ages 6 weeks – 6 years old preferred.
- Have excellent oral and written language skills to communicate with children and adults.
- Ability to successfully pass state-regulated background screening including criminal record, Child & Adult Protective Services, FBI fingerprinting, motor vehicle records, and sign a health attestation.
- Willing to complete 16 hours of annual, approved training or an equal combination of education and experience.
- All positions at ZALA require the ability to move about inside a classroom environment, operate computers and other office productivity machinery, and engage in written and verbal communications with children, parents, caregivers, other employees, clients, vendors, and visitors; time spent outdoors may be required.
- The role requires bending, stooping, kneeling, walking, standing, sitting on the floor, lifting up to 40 lbs, and participation in various physical activities typical of a childcare setting.
- Primarily an office setting.
- Occasional travel (1%).
- Occasional overtime may be required.
