Job SummaryThe RN Pre Op/PACU provides continuity and quality nursing care for all patients. The role involves continuous evaluation of patient condition, ensuring safety, comfort, and privacy, assisting physicians in procedure rooms with tasks such as conscious sedation, and utilizing sterile techniques. The RN delivers comprehensive post‑anesthesia and/or sedation care, performing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient and family readiness for discharge.
Responsibilities- Continue and enhance patient safety, comfort, and privacy throughout all stages of care.
- Assist physicians in procedure rooms with conscious sedation and sterile procedures as required.
- Provide total comprehensive care to patients emerging from general anesthesia or sedation, including assessment and evaluation.
- Coordinate and communicate with the healthcare team during hand‑offs and discharge planning.
- Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing.
- Active RN license in the state.
- BLS and ACLS required; PALS if required by the center.
- 2 years of experience in PACU or Critical Care preferred.
- Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment.
- Ability to prioritize and organize workload to meet patient and unit needs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
