Over the last few years, the firm has expanded significantly across Florida, operating 14 total locations with six staffed offices and hundreds of new cases coming in monthly.
The firm operates in a high-volume, contingency-based environment where cash flow timing, trust compliance, and accurate reporting are critical. With continued growth, financial complexity has increased: multiple bank accounts, multiple offices, increasing reporting demands, and the need for better forecasting discipline.
Kogan & DiSalvo is seeking a Controller who can fully own the accounting and financial reporting function, bring structure and automation to existing processes, and provide reliable financial clarity to leadership. This is a hands‑on leadership role, not a high‑level advisory‑only position. You will oversee daily accounting operations while supervising one bookkeeper and partnering directly with the Director of Operations.
What you’ll do:- Financial Operations
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and reconciliations
- Ensure proper management of multiple bank accounts and trust accounts
- Own month‑end and year‑end close processes
- Ensure 100% accuracy in reconciliations and financial records
- Supervise and support the firm’s bookkeeper
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Produce full P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow reporting
- Break reporting out by office, attorney, and team profitability
- Ensure reporting is consistent, timely, and reliable
- Provide leadership with clear financial visibility
- Budgeting & Forecasting
- Build and manage the firm’s annual budgeting process
- Develop and maintain cash flow forecasting, including contingency settlement forecasting
- Monitor expenses and enforce budget discipline
- Identify cost control opportunities without compromising operations
- Internal Controls & Process Improvement
- Implement stronger internal financial controls
- Streamline workflows such as credit card syncing and expense tracking
- Increase automation and reduce manual accounting inefficiencies
- Ensure compliance with legal accounting standards, including trust accounting and contingency fee handling
- Strategic Partnership
- Partner closely with the Director of Operations and firm leadership
- Provide financial insights to support operational decisions
- Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and tax professionals

Experience:
5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, with leadership responsibility required - Law Firm
Experience:
Strong preference for personal injury or contingency‑based law firm experience - Multi‑Location
Experience:
Capable managing accounting across multiple offices - Trust Accounting: Deep understanding of legal billing and trust accounting practices required

Skills:
Advanced Excel skills required; proficiency in Quick Books Desktop required - Systems: Experience with Litify, Paylocity, ADP, and O365 (or similar) preferred
- Detail‑Oriented: Produces accurate work and maintains high financial standards
- Process‑Driven: Able to streamline, automate, and build scalable systems
- Hands‑On: Willing to get into the weeds and not operate from a distance
- Onsite Commitment: Able to work onsite in Boynton Beach, 8am–5pm
