As an Operations Technician Lead, you’ll be immersed in a hands‑on environment where operational expertise is key to maintaining Williams’ extensive horsepower and power distribution equipment. Your day‑to‑day will center around applying your skills with:
- Gas turbines and high‑speed reciprocating engines—operating, maintaining, and optimizing performance
- Medium voltage generators and power distribution systems—ensuring reliable, safe energy flow
- Environmental controls and distributed control systems—using your operational acumen to uphold standards and troubleshoot issues
In addition to supporting construction projects, you’ll use your analytical abilities to diagnose equipment problems and resolve technical challenges. Through these activities, you’ll hone your operational leadership and become a trusted resource for your team.
What You’ll DoThis operations‑driven role places you at the heart of critical system functions, where your skills are vital to smooth and efficient operations. Your responsibilities will focus on:
- Leading the day‑to‑day operations of pipelines and facilities, with an emphasis on process safety and equipment reliability
- Ensuring strict compliance with technical and regulatory standards, leveraging your operational decision‑making
- Providing expert troubleshooting and guidance to technicians, resolving issues quickly to minimize downtime
- Coordinating shift activities and team efforts, using your skills to drive performance towards established goals
- Implementing process improvements and adopting new technologies to enhance operational efficiency
- Maintaining precise records, reports, and operational logs to support accountability and continuous improvement
- Promoting permit awareness and environmental compliance through effective operational practices
- Mentoring team members, instilling a culture of safety, responsibility, and operational excellence
- Taking on additional operational duties as required to support the success of the facility
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 8 years of experience as an Operations Technician in the oil and gas industry
- Valid State Driver’s License and clean driving record
- Strong leadership and operational decision‑making skills
- Ability to work effectively in a shift‑based environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and advanced knowledge of Process Control Systems and PLCs
Preferred:
- Associate or 2‑year technical degree
- Experience in natural gas processing or compression facilities
- Willingness to work in extreme temperatures, loud environments, and enclosed spaces
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and team‑lift heavier loads
- Comfortable standing, walking, climbing, bending, and squatting for extended periods
- Work at elevated levels using ladders, scaffolding, or lifts with appropriate PPE
- Use of hand tools and diagnostic equipment
- Availability for shift work, on‑call rotations, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Occasional travel between Williams locations with overnight stays
May lead teams in projects or work assignments of major scope or unusual complexity. Leads development and implementation of operational and/or technical standards and specifications.
Progression Profile- This is a limited compliment position. Most senior career level in the progression family.
