Operations Maintenance Technician

Operations Maintenance Technician I (OMTI) is an entry‑level position offering career growth within the City of Bowling Green Public Works. The role focuses on maintaining City grounds and structures, operating light equipment, and performing manual tasks in construction, repair, maintenance, and cleaning of City property.

• Operate light equipment such as tractors, bush hogs, chain saws, weed eaters, riding mowers, chipper, leaf equipment, dump trucks, concrete saws, and paint strippers in compliance with City safety regulations.
• Receive training on heavy equipment including backhoes, trackhoes, and front‑end loaders as needed.
• Mow assigned City property and remove brush, tree limbs, and leaves using chipper and leaf machines.
• Clean alleys and right‑of‑way locations, and remove snow and ice from streets and sidewalks as required.
• Drive and operate dump trucks for hauling materials and front‑end loaders for loading trucks.
• Repair sidewalks and concrete areas, resurface and repair roadways, and maintain roadway curbs, crosswalks, and stop bars.
• Cleans and repairs drainage structures and operates drill rigs for drywell drilling.
• Maintain and control right‑of‑way locations and signal traffic at safety hazard points during roadway construction or repair.

• High School diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Six to twelve months of experience working with light equipment, or equivalent skills and knowledge.
• Valid driver’s license;
  Class A Kentucky Commercial Driver’s License preferred or ability to attain within first year.

Pay Grade G1; $42,806 per year (plus full benefits). Day shift, Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime expected.
