The Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction enforces statewide standards for building construction. The Division of Plumbing is responsible for conducting plumbing inspections and permitting plumbing installations to ensure compliance with the state plumbing code and the regulations of the department. We are seeking a Plumbing Inspector I to join our team!
Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To The Following- Inspect all plumbing installations and report violation findings.
- Perform preliminary reviews of local plans concerning plumbing and sanitation.
- Maintain files, reports, and permits.
- Issue permits electronically and process payments.
- Monitor licensee statuses and water heater device reporting.
- Proficient communication skills.
- Possess sufficient technical knowledge of Kentucky State Plumbing Law, Regulations and Code.
- Proven abilities to manage multiple projects.
- Conduct effective research.
- Demonstrates attention to detail.
- High level of customer service.

Minimum RequirementsEDUCATION: NONE
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR
SKILLS:
Must have eight years experience as a journeyman or master plumber.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must hold a valid journeyman or master plumber license in Kentucky at time of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Working Conditions
Travel is required to perform inspections. Work is performed in all types of weather conditions.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
