Full-time 3rd Shift Water Plant Attendant or Certified Operator
Applications are being accepted for a full-time 3rd shift Water Plant Attendant or Certified Operator. BGMU recently completed an extensive plant expansion at our Drinking Water Treatment facility. This is an opportunity to join our team and be involved in the operation of our new facility!
RequiredDuring training this position will primarily work day shift along with some second and third shift training work. This work will involve monitoring water treatment plan processes to produce safe drinking water in a cost-effective manner in accordance with guidelines set forth by federal, state, and local regulators. We are willing to train the right individual if not already certified. The individual will be required to progress towards certified operator status through the KY Division of Compliance Assistance.
Base pay is commensurate with water treatment certification level attained. The physical demand of this job is classified as "Medium" and the candidate must successfully pass BGMU's physical demands testing specific to this work.
- Performs general operational and maintenance duties in the Water Treatment Plant.
- Performs routine checks of mechanical equipment for operational status, including checking pumps, chemical feeders, motors and mixers.
- Performs laboratory tests as necessary to determine the proper application of treatment chemicals.
- Maintains logs and records.
- Performs general maintenance and grounds keeping duties as needed such as basis cleaning, filter cleaning, and painting.
- Performs assigned duties and other related work with or without direct supervision as required.
- Additional work and/or training outside normal work hours may be required.
Work will be preformed under prevailing weather conditions. The work environment requires the individual to follow prescribed safety practices and to use safety equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety-toed shoes, and protective clothing such as tyvek suits. This position requires the ability to prepare reports, keep accurate records, to use good judgment and make prompt decisions when evaluating changing plant conditions.
Requires a basic understanding about electrical circuits, telemetering systems, SCADA systems, pumps, chemical feed systems, basic chemistry, and math. Use of computers with standard office software is required.
- High school diploma or graduate equivalency.
- Valid Kentucky driver's license.
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related field.
- Certification as a drinking water treatment operator through Commonwealth of Kentucky.
