Worthington Steel is seeking a hands-on Area Maintenance Manager responsible for leading and managing all maintenance and tooling operations at the Bowling Green, Kentucky facility, including equipment, die maintenance, building utilities, and grounds. This onsite role ensures the reliability, safety, and efficiency of plant assets through effective leadership, strategic planning, and adherence to the Worthington Philosophy.
The Area Maintenance Manager oversees daily maintenance activities, preventive maintenance programs, capital projects, and departmental budgets. This position provides direction, coaching, and performance management for maintenance and tooling personnel while ensuring objectives related to safety, quality, cost, and productivity are consistently achieved. The successful candidate demonstrates strong analytical and decision-making skills and effectively communicates across all functional areas and shifts.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, develop, and evaluate maintenance and tooling personnel onsite at the Bowling Green facility.
- Plan and coordinate repairs, preventive maintenance, shutdowns, and plant projects.
- Manage departmental budgets, spending, and spare parts inventory.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and safety programs, including OSHA and NFPA standards.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with engineering, operations, and external contractors.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts to minimize equipment downtime.
- Maintain accurate maintenance, equipment, and asset documentation.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives.
- Prepare and support Capital Appropriation Requests (CARs).
- Support staffing, training, and development of maintenance and tooling employees.
- Advanced knowledge of industrial equipment and die maintenance.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic expertise.
- Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and FMEA.
- Minimum of five years of maintenance or tooling experience.
- Minimum of two to three years of supervisory experience.
- Strong computer proficiency.
