Job Description

This position works within the Transfer Center and reports to the Associate Director for Transfer.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are customary for this position, but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted, and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.

  • Travels to regional community colleges to advise and recruit students desiring to transfer to one of the WKU campuses
  • Meets frequently with and tracks students who are part of the Joint Admissions program
  • Participates in student outreach and recruitment programs in the surrounding region
  • Works with students, faculty, and staff to improve overall advising practices for transfer students
  • Assists in planning of advising activities for the Topper Orientation Program (TOP) for transfer students
  • Adheres to the advising policies and initiatives of the University
  • Provides a central point of contact for transfer students for advising and retention issues
  • Serves as a liaison between the Community College System, WKU Regional Campuses, and the Transfer Center
  • Serves as a liaison between college advising faculty, staff, and the Transfer Center regarding transfer student advising issues

  • Skills in analyzing challenging situations and determining suitable solutions
  • Ability to learn data-based programs, and University management software such as Banner, Top Net, Degree Works, WKU Portal, etc.
