The School Operations Manager is a strategic and hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the non-academic, physical, and operational functions of Legends Charter School. This role ensures the school’s facilities, systems, and services operate efficiently, safely, and in alignment with organizational goals. The School Operations Manager supports all aspects of school operations, including facilities management, information technology systems, safety and security, vendor relations, transportation, contractor oversight, and supervision of custodial, security, and food service functions.
The School Operations Manager reports to the Chief of Staff. The School Operations Manager collaborates with school leadership, vendors, and external partners to maintain a safe, well-functioning, and welcoming learning environment for scholars, families, and staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the selection, onboarding, and ongoing management of school vendors and contractors
- Monitor vendor performance to ensure quality service delivery and compliance with school expectations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for facilities, custodial, food service, transportation, security, and technology vendors; coordinate contracts, service schedules, and vendor access to the building
- Address vendor-related issues promptly to minimize disruptions to school operations
- Oversee daily facilities operations, including maintenance, repairs, and cleanliness
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety, health, and building regulations
- Coordinate safety plans, emergency preparedness procedures, drills, and incident response
- Monitor building access, security systems, and safety protocols to maintain a secure school environment
- Conduct regular walkthroughs of the facility to identify and resolve operational or safety concerns
- Oversee school technology systems and infrastructure in partnership with IT vendors
- Ensure operational technology systems support instructional and administrative needs
- Coordinate troubleshooting, upgrades, and preventative maintenance
- Maintain inventory and documentation related to technology assets and systems
- Supervise custodial, security, and food service staff directly or through vendor oversight
- Support school events, programs, and special initiatives requiring operational coordination
- Collaborate across departments to ensure smooth daily school operations
- Respond to operational issues promptly to support uninterrupted instruction
- Provide operational guidance and support to staff as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- MBA or Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Business Administration or a related field
- Three (3) or more years of experience in executive administration, operations management, or a related role
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, vendors, and systems simultaneously
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively represent the school to internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills
- High attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
