JOB SUMMARYThe primary function of this position is to apply Plant Health Care (PHC) treatments according to label requirements, work order specifications and management directives. The T-1 can complete treatments according to professional standards of quality and safety as well as work in an efficient, organized manner. The proficient T-1 is self-directed and organized. They have an introductory understanding of application procedures that improve the health and appearance of plants and trees on client properties.
PHC techs may be required to work off hours, including nights and early mornings. A T-1 works as a contributing member of the tree care team. Additionally, the T-1 can work autonomously, as needed.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or ExperienceThis is an entry level position. The technician will be trained in all areas of skill and competencies. At entry level an untrained tech will require 1 year of training to move up to the next level.
Language SkillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as sales orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and product labels. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of the organization.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Ability to perform these operations using weight measurement, volume, and distance. The comprehension levels required to make arithmetic calculations including fractions, decimals, and percentages.
Reasoning AbilityApply critical thinking skills to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
DataIt is essential to make calculations or estimate weight, volume and distance related to PHC operations.
CommunicationIt is essential to communicate verbally with the public to direct them safely around and through the work area. It is critical to communicate effectively through a variety of modes and platforms with management and other team members to perform the work within acceptable standards.
Best Practices and ProceduresIt is essential to follow established procedures related to personal hygiene, decontamination, knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment and its limitations, maintenance of equipment, adjustments to equipment, and report malfunctioning equipment.
