The Assistant/Associate Professor in Educational Studies and Leadership will teach doctoral‑level research methodology, statistics, and dissertation courses at Bowie State University. The position supports the university’s Leadership Programs, operates across the main campus, online, and other educational centers, and requires an expert in educational leadership committed to the mission, vision, and core beliefs of Bowie State University.
Duties and Responsibilities- Teach educational statistics, research methods, and dissertation courses in face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online formats, including evening and weekend classes.
- Assist in developing and updating graduate‑level educational leadership activities and programs.
- Support existing doctoral cohorts, contribute to accreditation processes, and administer comprehensive examinations.
- Advising doctoral students on research and dissertation work and serve on dissertation committees.
- Participate in professional development, departmental and university committees, and training initiatives as identified by the department chair.
- Collaborate with local school districts and external partners to enhance educational instruction and leadership practices.
- Earned PhD or EdD in Educational Leadership or a closely related field.
- Significant K‑12 leadership experience, including senior executive roles (e.g., principal, district director, associate superintendent, or superintendent).
- Teaching experience in K‑12 elementary education for at least five years or proven higher‑education teaching expertise.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research software.
- Demonstrated ability to teach statistics and technology courses.
- Experience in online course development and learning architecture.
- Proficient in Blackboard, People Soft, and Student Licensure Data Systems.
