Undergraduate Admissions Specialist (JR101572)

Recruits freshmen and transfer students from high schools and community colleges. Makes presentations to student groups. Counsels students and parents regarding the admissions process.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Communicate with prospective students, parents and community through appointments, telephone, email, virtual opportunities and other materials
  • Present information about the benefits of an education from the department, college or area being represented at onsite locations and to on-campus visitors
  • Assist with processing admission for transfer/freshman applications, transcripts and other supporting credentials for determination of admissibility in accordance with university policies and procedures as requested
  • Audit student records and notify students/potential students of problems with their academic records including transcripts, registration, prerequisites, etc.
  • Performs evaluation of transcripts for admissions purposes, interviews, advise and communicate with prospective transfer students regarding admission to the University
  • Respond to student inquiries regarding the admission process and procedures and the transferability of credit and related academic information
  • Attend recruitment activities within assigned region, including information sessions and high school counselor relationship management
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Admissions Coordinator
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Work patiently and supportively with prospective students, applicants and their families
  • Great organizational skills
  • Knowledge of People Soft, Microsoft Word and Excel required
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to customer service
  • Ability to collect and analyze data related to student admissions and recruitment
MINIMUM TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • A minimum of one year of experience with student recruitment in a college/university environment; preferably with the transfer population.
  • Travel in and out of state, evening, and weekend hours will be required.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Experience with Slate CRM
