Production Team Leader

An established precision engineering and manufacturing business in Bournemouth is looking for a confident Production Team Leader to take ownership of a busy production cell. This Production Team Leader role is about more than just hitting numbers, it’s about leading from the front, supporting your team, solving problems quickly, and driving standards every single day.

As Production Team Leader, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of technicians, ensuring workload is managed effectively and production targets are achieved. You’ll report directly to the Production Manager and play a key part in maintaining quality, efficiency and team performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and supervise a team of technicians to meet daily and weekly production targets
Allocate workload and manage staffing levels to ensure on-time delivery
Monitor KPIs and report on performance
Resolve production issues through liaison with other departments
Conduct performance reviews and development planning
Manage absence, timekeeping and team discipline
Mentor trainees and support cross-training within the team
Carry out root cause analysis and support continuous improvement initiatives
Essential:

Proven experience in a Production Team Leader or similar supervisory role
Strong leadership and people management skills
Experience working within a quality-controlled manufacturing environment
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
Experience using MRP/ERP systems
Confident using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Able to manage performance, prioritise workload and solve problems independently
