Senior Commissioning Officer – Drug & Alcohol Commissioning Team (DACT)

The pay range for this role is £38,220 – £46,142 (pro‑rata for part‑time colleagues). All new starters begin at the bottom of the pay band, reflecting our commitment to equity.
BCP Council Adult Social Care Commissioning is offering a permanent post within the Drug & Alcohol Commissioning Team. The role will play a key part in reducing alcohol‑specific harm and will involve working with stakeholders in local authorities and health, partnership work on strategy and commissioning services, and reviewing and monitoring current provision to identify future needs.
Responsibilities:
- Co‑ordinate and drive the commissioning of alcohol‑related services, reviewing and monitoring current provision and identifying needed services.
- Engage with partners, key stakeholders and service users to plan and redesign services.
- Represent BCP DACT at local, regional and national levels on the substance use agenda.
- Lead meetings, provide partnership working opportunities, and communicate with diverse audiences.
- Manage time and workload effectively, develop solutions to challenges, and demonstrate attention to detail.
Qualifications /
Experience:
- Background or understanding of working with people with substance use issues, or knowledge of the complexity of individuals accessing services.
- Experience in health and social care or commissioning, or transferable skills supporting key activities detailed in the role.
- Confidence to engage positively and lead meetings.
- Strong partnership working and communication skills.
The position is full‑time Monday to Friday, but part‑time applicants are welcome. The role is not eligible for visa sponsorship; applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
