A specialist SEN and PRU primary school in Bournemouth is seeking a committed and energetic P.E. Learning Mentor to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with diverse learning needs while developing their own career in education, behaviour support, and pastoral development.
The RoleYou will be responsible for the planning and running of your own sessions within the school, while keeping individual learning preferences at the forefront of your mind. This role calls for a proactive and imaginative approach to designing curriculum experiences that inspire pupils to learn beyond the classroom. All pupils will have some form of special educational need such as:
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties
- Conduct Disorders (CD)
- Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)
- Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)
- Speech, Language and Communication needs
- Additional behavioural challenges
Your sessions will contribute to a positive learning environment, inspire engagement beyond the classroom, and support pupils’ personal development into confident and resilient young people. The role requires a creative, proactive, and flexible approach, working closely with teaching and support staff to provide an inclusive and enriching educational experience.
Who We Are Looking For- Comfortable supporting pupils with challenging behaviour
- Experience in SEMH or SEND environments
- Strong background in sports or physical education
- Able to work collaboratively with colleagues across the school
- Clear and confident communication skills
- Knowledge of positive behaviour support strategies
- Ability to de-escalate situations calmly and safely
- Full-time, term‑time only
- Monday - Friday

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position; in some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
