Building Control Officer; Hybrid

Building Control Officer (Hybrid) needed in Bournemouth, £55ph PAYE – Reference: 5292680

Registered Building Inspector required to cover full range of Building Control duties including supervision.

• To provide technical expertise in the inspection and assessment of construction works against building regulations, to ensure that all construction is in accordance with legislation and regulatory standards.
• The role will largely undertake the same duties as the Building Control Surveyor, but will be responsible for projects of greater complexity, provide more specialist advice, and operate with less guidance.
• Advise and provide advanced observations on construction, design and safety issues for complex projects at the pre-application stage, in order to provide professional input that will reduce the risk of non-compliance and delays in approvals.
• Examine and assess complex or complicated applications (using information such as submitted construction plans, drawings and specifications), against building regulations to decide if applications are compliant with regulations and can proceed to construction.
• Inspect and survey buildings and building methods, both during construction and upon completion, against well-defined regulations concerning safety, accessibility, and sustainability in order to assess whether construction is in accordance with legislation, standards and best practice, and to identify any potential non-compliance issues.

This is a full-time role on a temporary contract basis.
