Salary/Hourly Rate: 20.27

The Janitor cleans and keeps in an orderly condition factory working areas and washrooms, or premises of an office, commercial or other establishment. Duties involve a combination of the following: sweeping, mopping or scrubbing, and polishing floors; removing chips, trash, and other refuse; dusting equipment, furniture, or fixtures; polishing metal fixtures or trimmings; providing supplies and minor maintenance services; and cleaning lavatories, showers, and restrooms.

Duties
  • Maintain building interior by dusting and polishing furniture, equipment, mirrors, and fixtures; washing windows, counters, walls, ceilings, and woodwork; sweeping, scrubbing, and waxing floors; cleaning and vacuuming drapes, furniture, and carpeting including carpet scrubbing; resupplying rooms; replacing light bulbs.
  • Maintain building accessibility and appearance by picking up papers and trash, and replacing light bulbs.
  • Remove trash by emptying trash containers; transporting materials to disposal area; collecting recycling materials.
  • Keep cleaning equipment operational by following manufacturer guidelines, completing operator repairs and parts replacement.
  • Maintain parts and equipment inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed parts; anticipating cleaning equipment replacement; placing orders.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education, Experience, and Certification(s)
  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED).
  • At least one (1) year custodial experience.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Ability to understand and follow direction.
  • Knowledge of various cleaning products and when to use them.
  • Must have good oral/verbal communication skills.
Safety And Health Responsibilities
  • Adhere to all local, state and federal safety and environmental codes, ordinances, standards and laws.
  • Adhere to all corporate and local safety plans, policies, practices and standards.
  • Be aware of and follow all safety rules of your work site.
  • Report any unsafe conditions or accidents to your supervisor.
  • Practice standard precautions always.
  • Participate in mandatory or available safety training.
Supervision Received

The incumbent is assigned duties according to specified procedure and receives detailed instructions. Work is checked frequently.
