Under the direction of the Facility Superintendent, the Building Supervisor assumes a support role in the maintenance of their assigned YMCA facility(s). Duties will include general facility and grounds maintenance/upkeep and other duties as assigned. The Building Supervisor works in collaboration throughout all departments of their assigned branch to ensure quality, stability, and consistency in all areas according to YMCA of Northern Colorado standards and goals.
Responsibilitiesand Qualifications
- Ensures adherence to all YMCA policies, safety regulations, and best practices.
- Effectively address/support emergency maintenance issues.
- Ensures the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment, working with the appropriate departments to address any issues in a timely manner.
- Be acquainted with proper operation of mechanical systems.
- Supports Facility Superintendent in ensuring that assigned vehicles (and other equipment) are maintained and operated in accordance with the policies and procedures of the YMCA.
- Oversight and strong communication with seasonal crews in landscaping, seeding, fencing, irrigation, and tree management to ensure proper preventive maintenance is completed.
- Complete weekly mowing schedule for the property.
- Maintain roads, ditches and culverts year-round.
- Plan and prioritize projects and work time for efficiency.
- Upkeep of existing improved areas and improvements on new areas.
- Operate and maintain underground sprinkler systems.
- Plant and care for flowers, trees, shrubs, and grass as assigned by the Facility Superintendent.
- Recommend actions to be taken to improve and effectively maintain the grounds of a YMCA to the Facility Superintendent.
- Possess a valid, USA state‑issued driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and comply with YMCA driving rules to be approved to operate YMCA vehicles.
- Possess stamina to work in the work environment described herein.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Two or more years of experience in facility maintenance or closely related field preferred.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and other maintenance-related areas.
- Valid driver's license and meet our MVR requirements.
- CPR, First Aid and AED certifications required within 30 days of employment.
- Ability and current license to drive with record that meets YMCA standards.
- Familiarity with personal computers helpful.
- Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic skills such as measurement, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in order to do basic calculations.
- Basic computer skills, ability to use Microsoft Office products, CMMS, and ability to operate standard office equipment.
