Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Boulder County Public Works Department is seeking to hire an Automotive & Heavy Equipment Technician III. The Automotive & Heavy Equipment Technician III is the lead / specialist level classification in the equipment technician series. The Automotive & Heavy Equipment Technician III performs a variety of highly skilled duties in the maintenance and repair of light duty, medium duty, heavy trailer, truck and road maintenance equipment.
This is a full‑time, benefited position that will work Monday – Thursday from 6am – 4:30pm during April‑October and Monday – Friday from 7am – 3:30pm during October – April. The position will work out of 5201 St Vrain Road, Longmont, CO 80503.
Under FLSA guidelines, this position is non‑exempt (eligible for overtime).
Hiring Salary Range$70,428.00 to $85,908.00 Annually
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.

New employees receive an 80‑hour bank of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month (Must not have been employed at Boulder County during the 12 months prior to re‑hire date to qualify). Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our position. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- At least four years of experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy trucks, heavy equipment, and mechanized automotive equipment
Additional related education may count towards required experience.
