Position: Analytic Quality & Validation (AQV) Analyst

Analytic Quality & Validation (AQV) is a global control function within Ratings that evaluates the quality and consistency of S&P Global Ratings’ credit analysis, criteria, and models. The team is collaborative, data‑driven, and focused on building tools and processes that improve transparency and repeatability across our ratings platform. The AQV Analyst supports the analytical activities of AQV, developing tools and analytics that enhance the quality of S&P’s ratings analysis, and assists in the research of our criteria, models, and their application to assign ratings.

The Analyst participates in risk‑based activities, supports data sourcing, table design, tool development, and maintains analytic platforms and visualizations. The role also supports tools that simplify or automate processes. The Analyst works in a multicultural, global team requiring excellent multitasking, attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to analyze and solve problems independently.

Impact

This role helps ensure the integrity and consistency of S&P Global Ratings’ analytical output by developing data pipelines, tools, and visualizations that support risk‑based reviews and ongoing validation activities. The Analyst’s work improves the efficiency of AQV processes and informs senior leaders on rating performance and model application.

Responsibilities
  • Source, organize, and analyze structured and unstructured data from internal and external sources to identify credit trends and sector risks.
  • Use Python, SQL, Power BI and similar technologies to develop and maintain analytical tools, dashboards, and visualizations that support AQV’s reviews and reporting.
  • Contribute to data engineering and data organization efforts, including data mapping, warehousing, and automation to improve data quality and operational efficiency.
  • Support evaluation of credit analyses for consistency with S&P rating methodology, including preparation of rating performance metrics and ad‑hoc research.
  • Coordinate with global offices to ensure analyses and reports are consistent and accessible by stakeholders.
  • Document processes, maintain analytic platforms, and assist in planning and executing risk‑based validation activities.
Compensation / Benefits (US Candidates Only)

Anticipated base salary range: $70,000 to $90,000. Final base salary will be based on the individual’s geographic location and experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications.

What We’re Looking For Basic

Required Qualifications
  • 1–3+ years extensive experience in financial services, data analysis, or a related field.
  • BA or BS in business, finance, data science, computer science, engineering, or related discipline; advanced degree desirable.
  • Proficiency with Python and SQL;
    Databricks, Spark, and PySpark desired.
  • Experience with data engineering concepts, data warehousing, and data modeling, and familiarity with Power BI (or similar visualization tools).
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and clean large datasets, automate routine processes, and build reproducible analyses.
  • Strong orientation toward problem‑solving and logic, with great attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to translate business logic to code and present technical findings to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently in a fast‑paced, global team environment.
  • All employees required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.
  • Required to attend at least one in‑person interview at the nearest S&P Global Ratings office before an offer can be extended.
