Non-Profit Business Director

Position Overview

Shining Mountain Waldorf School seeks a strategic, experienced, and mission-aligned Director of Business to serve as a key partner to the School Director. This role is responsible for the financial health, operational excellence, and administrative infrastructure of the school.

• Serve as a strategic advisor and thought partner to the School Director on financial planning, operations, risk, and long‑range sustainability.
• Partner with the School Director and Board Finance Committee on multi‑year financial modeling and strategic initiatives.
• Translate strategic priorities into operational plans, systems, and measurable outcomes.
• Ensure alignment between financial realities, operational capacity, and institutional goals.
• Present financial and operational updates to the Board of Trustees and Finance Committee.

• Develop and manage the school’s annual operating budget in collaboration with school leadership.
• Create and maintain multi‑year financial forecasts.
• Monitor performance against budget and provide monthly reporting with narrative analysis.
• Oversee accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, tuition systems, payroll approvals, and restricted funds management.
• Manage cash flow to ensure available funds to meet commitments.
• Serve as primary liaison for annual audit, IRS Form 990, lenders, and regulatory agencies.
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of all required filings, including state, federal, grant, and compliance reporting.
• Oversee tuition collection processes, tuition assistance systems, and related financial aid programs.
• Maintain covenant compliance and reporting for lenders.

Salary Range:$60,000 – $75,000 per year

Final salary is determined based on the candidate’s experience, education, and relevant qualifications.
