Job Description Develop, document, catalog, and identify non-flight Electrical Special Test Equipment such as test cables, Electrical Racks, TVAC feed through hardware, and other board, box, instrument, and system level test sets. Draw cable interconnect diagrams; thermal vacuum plates and manage interface control documents. Assist in executing certification procedures for Electrical Test sets. Despite being in the Electrical Special Test Equipment (ESTE) department, this role will rely heavily on your mechanical design experience.
The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers' missions. Our collaborative, cross-functional teams are committed to innovation, integrity, continual learning and strong execution. What You'll Do:
* Develop CAD models of electronics designs and generate cable designs, schematics, wire lists and detailed and assembly drawings.
* Write detailed user manuals for multiple test systems.
* Create detailed analysis documents pertaining to electrical test systems including tip over, thermal, AC power, and failure modes.
* Draw, document, and manage network diagrams for interconnected test systems.
* Interface with program security personal on test equipment ingress and egress from Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF).
* Develop bill of materials product structures and identify and manage long lead procurements.
* Specify connector pinouts and mil-standard part numbers in interface control documents (ICDs).
* Work with production planners and assembly technicians to resolve issues during fabrication cycle.
* Report status of tasks being worked and learn how to overcome obstacles that are preventing progress.
* Establish and maintain reuse standards of common electrical test equipment.
* Learn to leverage heritage designs in order to save schedule and cost when appropriate.
* Execute test procedures on electrical test equipment.
* Assist in the management of engineering task creation and tracking.
* Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
* Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
* Perform other duties as necessary. On-Site Work Environment:
This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
* Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
* May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
* May access other facilities in various weather conditions. Required Education, Experience, & Skills
* BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 2 years of experience.
* Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
* Proficiency in one or more of the following CAD tools is required:
* Draftsight.
* Solidworks.
* AutoCAD.
* Must have communication skills and the ability to exercise them in a technical environment.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet tools is required.
* Hands-on design and troubleshooting ability is essential. #LI-AP1 A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access. Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
* Experience with AGILE PDM tool.
* Microsoft Visio experience.
* Working knowledge of military specifications and standards.
* Skilled in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5M.
* Cable and wire harness design experience.
* Full lifecycle (design, manufacturing, & test procedure) development.
* LabVIEW programming familiarity.
* Active DoW Security Clearance. Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $79365 - $134921
