** Building Technology Systems Lead Consultant

** WSP works closely with architects and owners from around the world on large, complex projects with a focus on sustainability and energy performance of the built environment.

Provides high level technical assistance and guidance for multi-site/phase due diligence, design, development, building, testing, and inspecting of smart building projects in the public and private sector.  Responsibilities include the research, design, concept development, planning, installation, operation, maintenance, and optimal integration of intelligent technologies using a converged network approach, and systems that make predictive and automated decisions that impact building capabilities including access control, acoustics, audio systems, security, and video surveillance.  

Substantiates reports, documentation, and decisions regarding equipment, installation, integration, and operation specifications.  Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality for building inhabitants.

Your Impact

+ Provide guidance with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, schematics, data, technical drawings, flow diagrams, computer-generated reports, and other matrices for project development, design, and installation.

+ Apply high-level building technology techniques and processes to identify improvements for various project work including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, integration, installation, and operation.

+ Perform professional building technology work and conduct research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, resources, layout, usage, and systems to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, codes, and installation or operating permits.

+ Develop construction and installation plans, specifications, and cost estimates; preparing phasing plans and updating technology layout plans that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.

+ Involved from project inception to completion in the management of building technology design, installation, and integration projects, including renovation, new builds, operating specifications, materials and equipment, phasing, and installation plans.

+ Develop and incorporate advanced technologies, monitoring devices, building materials, modeling techniques, design requirements, load calculations, and operating strategies to account for the proper installation and functioning of equipment and systems; implementing future-ready solutions with smart building technology design standards.

+ Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on various design, installation, and integration issues relating to creating state of the art smart buildings using a converged network approach, AV/telecommunications, and intelligent systems that make predictive and automated decisions that impact building capabilities, safety, and security.

+ Oversee and monitor cross-functional teams to execute project work on mid-level and/or multiple concurrent projects, including budgets, tracking hours and expenses, task completion, cost and quantities of materials/equipment/labor, technical calculations, permit applications, schematics, construction, compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memos.

+ Coordinate, review and approve installation design plans, ensuring data integrity and work is compliant with all applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.

+ Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, reports, sketches, calculations, cross-sections, technical drawings, spreadsheets, and other 2D/3D illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of more complex data, findings, or analyses.
