Duration : 06 months (Possibility of Extension)
Essential Functions- Work with systems and software teams to ensure user interface requirements are met, risk controls pertaining to use have been applied and are effective
- Design usability evaluations, analyze data and report results, make recommendations for improvements based on Human Factors guidelines and best practices
- Participate in the evaluation of risks related to product use
- Some travel may be required
- Demonstrated experience with user-centered design methods and conducting usability evaluations, including facilitation and observation
- Knowledge and experience with user / use environment research, scenario development and documentation
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Ability to work with multi-functional development teams
- Attention to detail, thoroughness
- Ability to complete work with oversight from more senior personnel
- Human Factors or Usability experience in medical devices and familiarity with existing IEC Usability standards, AAMI Human Factors standards and/or FDA Human Factors Guidance
- Preferred experience with embedded systems and graphical user interface applications
- Experience conducting user-centered research using a variety of methods and mediums (e.g. physical models, computer simulations, high-fidelity prototypes, etc.)
- Experience with creation of wireframes, screen prototypes and computer simulations
- Bachelor’s degree with 2-5 years’ experience;
Master’s degree with 1-3 years of experience
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Factors, Biomedical Engineering, Systems Engineering or related research-based discipline
The Human Factors Engineer is primarily responsible for user-centered research activities related to product design. This position will work under direction of senior personnel to support product development teams by providing research and design inputs related to human capabilities and product interactions, creating and structuring product evaluations, and conducting usability assessments to inform design, contributing to the verification and the validation of medical devices.
Additional responsibilities may include participation in the development of product requirements, risk analysis related to product use and evaluation of potential use errors.
Bachelors in Human Factors, Biomedical, Systems Engineering or related research based discipline.
