Power System Automation Engineer – Denver, CO
We are seeking experienced professionals in power transmission and distribution, specializing in substation automation and protection relay engineering, to join our Power Systems Engineering team.
You'll make a difference by:
- Configure and test RTU/PLC for protection and controls schemes of Medium and High Voltage substations systems.
- Develop new application solutions with IEC
61850 or other communication protocols relevant in the energy automation field. - Design and/or support elaboration of Control Logic Diagrams, System Network Architecture, Signal Lists, Functional Design Specifications documents during design phase of the project.
- Prepare and execute Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and set up testing environments for customer projects.
- Be one of our primary customer interfaces, including trouble shooting and commissioning support.
- Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, including design, implementation, and commissioning phases.
You'll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications- A bachelor’s degree in electrical/electronics/computer science engineering.
- Three years of engineering experience in power automation for electrical substations.
- Ability to read and fully understand DC and AC schematics, three and one-line diagrams for Medium and/or High Voltage substations systems.
- Knowledge of at least one of the relay products Siemens, GE, SEL, ABB, and others relay/automation products and associated software.
- Communication Network Technologies, including Design and hardware configuration.
- Experience with at least one of the most common communication protocols such as IEC
61850, DNP, Modbus, IEC
103, IEC
101, IEC
104, Profinet, Profibus. - Factory and Site testing experience in automation and control systems.
- Ability to travel 50-75% is expected depending on project assignments and requirements.
- Communication Network Technologies, including Design, Configuration, and troubleshooting of layer 2 and layer 3 capable devices for protection and automation applications with Ruggedcom and Scalance products.
- Knowledge in Siemens Power Automation products such as SICAM PAS, SICAM RTU, SICAM SCC.
- Experience with Power Automation engineering tools such as SICAM Device Manager.
- Programming skills and experience with at least one of the most common programming languages used in process and power automation such as C++, ST, LD, FBD.
