Job Summary
The Lockheed Martin Engineering Management Program (EMP) within the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Colorado Boulder is seeking an accomplished technical and management professional to join our dynamic team. This is a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor position. The ideal candidate will possess the experience, professional achievements, and academic background necessary to teach both graduate- and undergraduate-level courses in engineering management.

Experience with people or project management is expected.

The EMP prepares engineers, applied scientists, and technical professionals for career advancement in business leadership and management.

Courses are offered in person, online, remote, and/or blended. The Program offers a Masters of Engineering (M.E.) degree in Engineering Management, an M.E. degree in Engineering Management on Coursera, multiple graduate certificates, and two undergraduate minors in Engineering Management and Engineering Entrepreneurship.

Responsibilities
  • The typical distribution of work for this role is 80% teaching (5 courses per academic year) and 20% leadership and service.
  • Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in the CU Engineering Management Program.
  • Leadership and service to the department, university and profession.
  • Serve on committees as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Candidate must have earned a doctorate degree in engineering or a related field, and 5 years of industry experience managing people and/or projects.
  • OR:
    Candidate must have earned an MBA, or Masters in Engineering or a related field and ten years of industry experience in engineering, technical and/or business field(s) managing people and/or projects.
  • At least 2 years of experience teaching graduate and/or undergraduate engineering management or business-related courses in higher education.
  • A terminal degree (Ph.D. or the equivalent) in a field of study related to engineering and/or management.
  • Experience in providing education in a distance education environment.
  • Experience in graduate and undergraduate-level Engineering Management or an MBA program and undergraduate business education.
  • At least a 5-year record of professional success both as a practicing technical professional and as a manager and leader in technology endeavors.
  • At least a 2-year record of professional success in teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in the areas of leadership, product development, marketing, engineering economics, project management, systems engineering, and entrepreneurship.
What We Can Offer
  • The anticipated salary range for this position at the Assistant Teaching Professor rank is $90,000 - $99,000 academic year salary.
