WSP is looking for talented individuals to join our team as a Senior Consultant to support the company’s growing Sustainability, Energy and Climate Change division. This position could be based at one of WSP’s offices in Portland, OR;

San Francisco, CA;
San Diego, CA;
Arlington, VA; or Boulder, CO. Other locations can be arranged for an exceptional candidate. The individual will work with our Climate, Resilience and Sustainability Team and help clients meet their objectives through sustainability programs.

Responsibilities
  • Lead client‑facing teams in the design, management, and reporting of product and organizational sustainability programs in the electronics and technology business sectors, focusing on Life Cycle Assessments (LCA).
  • Lead delivery of electronics LCA projects from start to finish, including:
    • Researching and collecting life cycle inventory data, performing quality assurance, and developing new datasets to fill data gaps.
    • Modeling in software platforms such as LCA For Experts (formerly GaBi), Sima Pro, GREET, and open

      LCA.
    • Developing product life‑cycle assessments to calculate impacts such as GHG emissions, energy use, water use, consumption and scarcity, waste, and other environmental impacts.
    • Producing screening‑level and ISO‑conform ant reports, comparative and non‑comparative analyses, and presentations based on LCAs.
    • Producing Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), eco‑passports/profiles, and LCA background reports per relevant Product Category Rules (PCRs) and the EU Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) methodology.
  • Research opportunities to reduce environmental impacts in the life cycle of a product or service.
  • Produce sustainability reports, disclosures, and other communications.
  • Develop and maintain data management systems and business intelligence tools.
  • Support business development activities with existing and prospective clients.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, energy, sustainability, or an environmental discipline.
  • Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in product sustainability and LCA consulting in the electronics and technology sectors.
  • Experience with developing ISO 14040 and ISO 14044‑conform ant LCA reports.
  • Familiarity with the product design process, manufacturing, supply chain management, circular economy principles, and methods of reducing waste.
  • Well‑developed interpersonal skills, maturity, credibility, confidence, and integrity.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to develop and present analyses using Microsoft Excel, Access, and Power BI.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks iteratively, and manage time efficiently.
  • Ability to collaborate remotely across geographies and platforms.
  • Proven record of upholding workplace safety and abiding by WSP’s health, safety, and harassment policies.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project‑specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in engineering, energy, sustainability, or an environmental discipline.
  • Experience using LCA software and methodologies such as LCA For Experts, Sima Pro, open

    LCA, and GREET.
  • Experience with ISO standards relevant to LCA (14040, 14044, 14025, 14046, 14064, 14067).
  • Experience with other sector areas such as food and beverage, agriculture, apparel/textiles, and construction products.
  • Experience with EPDs and the PEF methodology.
  • Familiarity with emerging circularity standards and their application to LCA.
  • Familiarity with water foot printing, water stress and scarcity methodologies such as AWARE.
