Job Summary

The Enrollment Management division at CU Boulder invites applications for the Scholarship Recipient Support Specialist position! Scholarship Services is part of the Enrollment Management unit, where we support recruitment and student success efforts of the campus by utilizing federal, state, institutional, and private funding to maintain access to an education and ensure aid policies support retention and graduation goals. This full‑time position reports to the Coordinator of Scholarship Advising & Partnerships and is part of a team that supports scholarship recipients, applicants, and scholarship partners by administering specific scholarship programs, giving presentations, and supporting the office as needed.

This position maintains a thorough and current working knowledge of all Title IV federal, State of Colorado, and institutional rules, regulations and procedures to ensure accurate release of information and program compliance.

Who We Are

The Office of Scholarship Services is a unit within the Student Financial Services Division of Enrollment Management, working alongside the Office of Financial Aid, and the Bursar’s Office. Our team is responsible for optimizing scholarship resources to enhance affordability and equity for our student population. We work with campus partners and external partners to ensure compliance with scholarship donor intent. We are dedicated to increasing access to higher education and recognizing scholarly merit by facilitating the awarding of scholarships from over 1,100 unique funds.

By collaborating with campus and external partners, we empower students to reach their fullest potential as part of the CU community.

Responsibilities Scholarship Program Administration & Recipient Support
  • Develop and maintain liaison relationships with a variety of university and private scholarship programs as well as colleges, departments, and other campus programs to provide counseling for student recipients, donor relations, financial reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Develop and implement new programs and processes to improve and enhance scholarship opportunities for students and to enhance the customer experience.
  • Provide individualized counseling and services to specific populations of prospective and current scholarship programs.
  • Manage fund reconciliation of assigned scholarship programs throughout the year.
  • Write, review, and keep up‑to‑date the position’s policies and procedures.
  • Develop a thorough working knowledge of Financial Aid systems, policies, and procedures to ensure scholarship dollars are administered correctly and that impacts to other types of aid are reconciled with accuracy.
  • Other duties as assigned to support Scholarship Services, including but not limited to reviewing and rating scholarship applications, coordinating scholarship interviews, and developing and updating modules for the student employee training manual.
Advising
  • Assist with scholarship specific customer service duties, such as phones, front counter, email, etc. as needed.
  • Advise students and families on application processes, important timelines, types of aid, eligibility requirements, financing options, and other resources available.
  • Adjust awards as necessary to reflect student’s enrollment and eligibility.
Student Employee Supervision
  • Supervise, mentor, train, motivate, evaluate, and provide leadership to the Office of Scholarship Services student employees.
  • Interview, hire, and onboard new student employees.
  • Serve as a resource to student employees.
  • Ensure that the work assigned to student employees is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
Outreach
  • Participate in scholarship program specific campus and community outreach events, including events held in the evening and on weekends.
