Summary:
Boulder Valley School District is seeking a qualified and dedicated Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI) to support children with visual impairments in achieving academic, functional, and independence goals. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in specialized instruction, collaborative by nature, and committed to providing equitable access to learning for all students.
Responsibilities:
* Provide direct instruction and consultation services to students with visual impairments.
* Support the development and implementation of IEP goals.
* Teach compensatory skills, including braille, assistive technology, and orientation & mobility (as appropriate).
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure student access and success.
* Maintain accurate documentation and comply with state and federal regulations.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required
* Currently hold a Special Services Provider (SSP) license (must upload license or in process documentation to application).
* Currently hold a Special Education Specialist license with an endorsement in:
Visually Impaired (Birth-21) (must upload license or in process documentation to application).
* ACVREP National Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Certification
* Successful completion of the CDE Braille Competency Test, or willingness to pass the Braille Competency Test within the first year of teaching, in accordance with Colorado state requirements
* Completed and submitted BVSD on-line application.
* The READ Act SB 19-199 (PDF) and SB22-004 (PDF) requires that all Colorado teachers who provide literacy instruction to students must earn a "READ Act Designation" by meeting specific requirements. If you are hired for a position requiring the READ Act Designation, you will be required to obtain it. Additional information can be found here.
Preferred:
* Experience working with children who are blind or visually impaired in educational settings.
* Strong knowledge of assistive technology, accessible instructional materials, and individualized education plans (IEPs).
* Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, related service providers, and families.
* Technology and software skills and experience-(Infinite Campus and Frontline).
Salary Information:
Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
* Pay range listed above is for employees newly hired to BVSD or current BVSD employees that are new to the employee group (existing employees currently in this unit please refer to the pay range on the appropriate salary schedule).

This information is provided in compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and is the company's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation range and benefits offered for this position. The compensation offered to the successful applicant may vary based on factors including experience and education.
