Job Summary

This is a short-term, contract, lecturer appointment, which will provide instruction for credit‑bearing courses for the following program(s):

    Introduction to Ethnic Studies (1 section)

    Special Introductory Topics in CMCI (1 section)
  • COMM 1300:
    Intro to Public Speaking (1 section)
  • COM 2450:
    Intro to Interpersonal Communication (1 section)
Who We Are

The Office of Precollege Outreach and Engagement, in the Enrollment Management Division, partners with communities across Colorado and beyond to provide first‑generation and low‑income students and their families with comprehensive college preparation and social development programs. These programs help support students academically and personally from middle school through high school and prepare them to transition successfully to postsecondary opportunities. Continuing to provide support to students that choose to attend the University of Colorado Boulder.

Responsibilities
  • Attend the class(es) you were hired to teach and are responsible for classroom management.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive course syllabus outlining course objectives, assignments, assessment criteria, and expectations aligned with departmental learning outcomes.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student growth and course competencies.
  • Assign, evaluate, and submit student work and grades using Canvasor other platform, maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with university and departmental grading and final grade submission policies.
  • Foster a supportive and engaging learning environment that promotes critical thinking, collaboration, and academic integrity.
  • Incorporate inclusive, student-centered, and culturally responsive teaching practices to support diverse learners.
  • Collaborate with program staff to align course instruction with broader student success and transition goals.
  • Maintain regular communication with students regarding course expectations, feedback, and progress.
  • Attend required training, weekly staff meetings, and end of summer celebration.
What You Should Know
  • Participants of our programs are primarily fist‑generation college‑going students, thus we require the instructor to have experience supporting and teaching our student population.
  • This position does require you to teach in person, and as an employee of the university you will be required to abide by university vaccination policies.
  • This is a temporary appointment with the university as a lecturer and does not qualify for university benefits.
  • We strongly encourage the instructor to use a web‑based platform for course deliverables and materials (if applicable).
  • The Office of Precollege Outreach and Engagement can provide at no cost to the instructor course materials and printing.
What We Can Offer

The rate for this part‑time, temporary summer appointment is $5,380 - $7,585.

What We Require
  • Master’s/PhD/EdD degree in or a closely related field to the course applying for.
  • Ability to develop a course syllabus and assess student writing in alignment with departmental and university standards.
