Clay Hub! It is a space for connection, creativity, and community through clay, and we can't wait to welcome a new energetic, positive and highly qualified Ceramics Teacher to join our amazing team!
This is a seasonal summer camp position, with potential to teach classes throughout the school year for the right fit candidate and based on Clay Hub's employment needs.
Summer Camp Session Dates- Monday - Friday 8:30am - 12:30pm (Youth Wheel Throwing Summer Camps)
- Closed week of July 4 (June 29th - July 3rd)
- Teaching FULL DAY (9am - 12pm AND 1pm - 4pm) camps the week of June 22 - 26 only
Please note: The Summer Camp schedule starts May 26th
. The week of May 18th is reserved for Summer Camp training and other between session tasks. The schedule for that week is TBD, but will likely include 1 full day or 2-3 half days of prep and planning work. Summer Camp schedule ends August 7th

This position teaches our morning camps which run from 9am - 12pm, with 30 minutes before and after camp to set up and break down. Camps run on a Monday - Friday schedule with 2 days of wheel throwing and 2 days of handbuilding, before students glaze all work on Friday. We run campers work as a single firing (cone
6).
Greeting students, facilitating pick up, and parent communication: Greeting students as they arrive for class and helping them get settled in the studio; learning students’ names; facilitating pick up or students leaving at the end of camp; communicating relevant information to parents
Teaching wheel throwing and handbuilding: implementing effective teaching strategies; working with young artists who are feeling frustrated or need extra support with empathy and kindness; managing set up and clean up of materials and supplies
Creating a safe, supportive, and fun studio environment: Showing up each day with warmth, enthusiasm, and excitement for your students and team; maintaining an aesthetically pleasing and inviting environment; maintaining student safety; building connections and supporting peer-to-peer relationships
Setting up, breaking down, and prepping art materials and supplies: Prepping and resetting materials; breaking down and putting away materials and supplies; delegating similar tasks to Studio Assistant

Education, Experience, and Skills Requirements:- (High) Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in wheel throwing, and proficiency in handbuilding/altering the wheel thrown form is required. Please do not apply if you are not at a high intermediate or advanced proficiency in wheel throwing. (Should be able to center 8 - 10lb of clay, as a general sense of wheel throwing proficiency.)
- Previous experience in a ceramics studio setting required. While this position doesn't include much/any kiln room management, experience loading/unloading/managing kilns, and other ceramics equipment is required.
- A degree in studio art, with a focus on ceramics is strongly preferred. (Please still apply if you feel you have equivalent experience without a degree).
- Previous experience working with and teaching children ceramic art, and ideally wheel throwing, is required.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and teammates
- Enjoyment for being a part of a team in a lively and busy studio setting
- Excellent people skills and enjoyment for being around people
- Genuine enjoyment for teaching and supporting students
- Ability to efficiently prioritize and with a positive work ethic
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs
