Engagement Programming Specialist

The Libraries at University of Colorado Boulder encourage applications for an Engagement Programming Specialist! This role is an active and collaborative member of the Learning and Engagement team. The Specialist will take a leadership role in the development of engagement programming, conceiving, developing, and implementing innovative programming that supports the entire learner and the educational mission of the Libraries and CU Boulder.

The Specialist will also manage the Libraries tricycle, Info Motion, and conduct instructional activities, including the creation of lesson plans and learning materials to enhance information literacy.

Responsibilities
  • Conceive of, develop, and implement innovative programming that meets the educational mission of the Libraries/CU Boulder and supports the whole learner; conduct environmental scans and research investigations of engagement programming in Libraries and beyond; create logistical steps and plans for engagement programming; evaluate and revise programming workflows to enhance impact and efficiency; actively investigate swag and content that is socially just, sustainable, and in alignment with Libraries values and goals in collaboration with the Communication Team;

    develop mechanisms to supervise attendance, collect attendee feedback and other artifacts for program assessment; provide recommendations for ways that programming could be improved in the future; schedule materials and spaces, recruit team members, collect and analyze statistics for engagement programming activities. This position will serve as a resource for fellow library professionals involved in engagement programming. The Engagement Programming Specialist will engage in ongoing professional development related to job duties and team priorities, especially those offered through the Libraries and CU Boulder.
  • Support team‑based projects and collaborations, including engagement programming campaigns, organizational initiatives, or instructional support; engage in and lead special projects to support the Learning and Engagement Team goals of creating learning opportunities that are hospitable, receptive, and welcoming to our communities, including supporting core programs like the Buffs One Read and the Culture Crawl; perform duties as assigned by team leads;

    collaborate, ask for clarification, and implement plans at the direction of project leads.
  • Teach and coach patrons through their library and research needs by staffing the Libraries’ service points; guide and coach the campus community in pursuit of research goals; conduct patron needs analysis, investigate search strategies, recommend research processes, evaluate and analyze materials, and make thorough referrals or external requests as needed; provide user education on emerging scholarly practices, publication, and access trends;

    demonstrate effective interpersonal skills, technical knowledge, and technology proficiency; stay ahead of location‑specific service point needs, policies, and environments.
