Job Title: Middle School Outdoor Track Coach
Location: Codman Academy
Reports to: Athletic Director
Salary: $1,500 (stipend payments)
Job SummaryThe Middle School Outdoor Track Coach at Codman Academy is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to student-athletes and assistant coaches. The coach will focus on developing student-athletes fundamental skills, strategy, and physical conditioning to achieve both individual and team success. Additionally, the coach will foster moral values, self-discipline, and self-confidence, in line with Codman Academy’s educational goals and Hallmarks. The coach works closely with the Athletic Director to establish program goals and direction, ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of all participants.
While public exposure and community expectations may be high, the coach must prioritize sportsmanship, mental health, and the educational purpose of athletics.
- Coaching experience at the middle school level or competitive experience at the high school or collegiate level.
- Certification in NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching, Concussion Training, Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training, First Aid, and CPR.
- Demonstrated ability to teach and model character and responsible behavior.
- High energy, positive attitude, and a strong commitment to developing young athletes.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with parents, staff, and community members.
- A balanced approach to success, emphasizing growth, skill development, and personal achievement.
- Leadership: Proven experience leading student-athletes and fostering a positive, inclusive team culture.

- Training & Development: Oversee the training, instruction, conditioning, and selection of middle school athletes for various outdoor track events.
- Program Management: Work in conjunction with the Athletic Director to establish and manage yearly schedules for practices, competitions, and team activities.
- Leadership & Representation: Attend all athletic department and league meetings and act as the primary representative of the outdoor track program.
- Communication: Maintain regular communication with athletes, parents, and school staff regarding team progress, schedules, and goals.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of all student-athletes by adhering to safety protocols and maintaining compliance with school and league regulations.
