Quant Developer (FX/Fixed Income) | Top Boston Hedge Fund
I'm partnered with an elite hedge fund in Boston on an exciting Quant Dev hire that will spearhead a critical greenfield initiative. This hire will partner directly with a well established Portfolio Manager to build new applications and tools from scratch to automate and optimize their research, trading, and execution workflows. You'll also work with other traders and researchers across multiple teams, giving you a wide view of the investment decision making process, strategy formulation, and trade execution.
You'll report into and work alongside a truly exceptional leader; they spent 15 years at a Tier 1 Multi Strategy Hedge Fund (running multiple quant teams) before departing to join this firm and lead this greenfield effort!
Prior Fixed Income or FX experience is attractive, but this is also an excellent role for a strong engineer with macro experience that's worked closely with PMs, traders, and/or researchers. This portfolio manager is looking for a technical thought partner, not just a developer. So this is a particularly unique opportunity to delve deeply into their strategies, and collaborate on how to build and deliver a next-gen set of applications and tools for their team!
This a lean firm with decades of strong performance, existing infra/apps/tools/etc., and world-class PMs and researchers. There is very little bureaucracy limiting the velocity of development and ideation for this greenfield effort, and this firm prides itself on its meritocratic culture, internal skills development programs, and internal mobility.
- Prototype, architect, and deliver next-gen systems that support live trading, execution, portfolio monitoring, and portfolio construction
- Work directly with a Portfolio Manager (fixed income/FX focus) to deeply understand their strategies, so you're able to deliver next-gen systems that are easily maintainable/scalable long term
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Math or Physics
- 4+ years of experience with Python
- Experience supporting fixed income or FX traders, researchers, or PMs
- Experience building applications or tools from scratch and interfacing directly with traders, researchers, or PMs
- Experience driving complex zero-to-one initiatives with an emphasis on thinking beyond perpetual fire-fighting so you can build systems that minimize technical debt and are easily maintainable long term
