Overview

The Development Intern will support Shawmut's IT team by assisting with software development initiatives that enhance internal tools, improve business processes, and support digital transformation efforts. This internship is a hands-on opportunity for a student interested in software engineering, application development, and technology-driven solutions within a dynamic construction management environment. This is a hybrid role in our Boston, MA office.

Responsibilities

* Assist in designing, developing, testing, and deploying internal applications and tools.

* Support enhancements and maintenance for existing systems, including debugging and troubleshooting.

* Work with IT team members to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

* Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving development best practices.

* Document processes, technical specifications, and user guides as needed.

* Collaborate with cross-functional partners to understand workflows and identify opportunities for improvement.

* Help with data integration activities, reporting, and automation initiatives.

Qualifications

* Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.

* Foundational knowledge of programming languages such as Python, C#, JavaScript, or SQL.

* Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.

* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

* Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Salary Range Information

Boston Base Salary Range: $22/hour - $25/hour. The range stated is specific to Boston. Placement within the listed range depends on many factors, including, but not limited to, years of experience, project size capability (for Construction & Field roles), and internal company equity.
