Staff Software Engineer, Retail

Join Toast as a staff software engineer in the Retail team. Retail is part of the New Ventures unit and focuses on building a new generation of products that scale alongside Toast’s existing restaurant platform. The role will help grow the product from beta to a scalable tier, building infrastructure that supports store inventory and retail data models.

• Work closely with leads to identify high‑impact opportunities in the domain.
• Plan, scope, and prototype solutions from design to rollout, using web and server‑side technologies.
• Make technical decisions and recommendations that lay the foundation for the future of our integrations strategy.
• Stay in tune with customer needs by participating in partner evaluation calls and industry research.

• 7+ years experience building and shipping production software to customers.
• Experience with Java, Kotlin, or other object‑oriented programming languages.
• Experience building integrations.

• Flexible in using different tech stacks and languages.
