Software Engineer (Leaning Backend) – Motion Recruitment
We are collaborating with a client in digital dermatopathology to add a Software Engineer to their remote U.S. team. The role focuses on building secure, scalable, and user‑friendly applications that support advanced pathology workflows in a HIPAA‑compliant environment. You will work primarily with Python and modern web technologies to design tools that improve patient care and clinical efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop new clinical features and annotation tools.
- Collaborate with product and lab teams to enhance user experience.
- Maintain and improve existing systems for performance and reliability.
- Write clean, testable, and well‑documented code.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA security and privacy standards.
- Participate in design reviews and code discussions.
- 40% Backend Development – Python, APIs, Data Integration
- 40% Frontend/UI Development – Web‑based Clinical Tools
- 20% QA, Testing, System Enhancements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience across the full SDLC.
- Strong proficiency in Python or a similar language.
- Hands‑on experience with SQL and an ORM framework (e.g., Hibernate, JPA).
- Solid understanding of software design, testing, and documentation best practices.
- Familiarity with front‑end development and interactive web applications.
- Experience integrating components into full‑stack systems.
- Knowledge of test‑driven development and QA methodologies.
- Ability to troubleshoot and enhance existing systems.
- Healthcare or clinical software development.
- Understanding of HL7 standards, interoperability, or EMR integration.
- Experience with modern front‑end frameworks and visualization tools.
- Experience working in HIPAA‑compliant development environments.
