Role Overview

The Social Ministries Manager is responsible for the development and administration of all social ministries programs, providing a continuum of care for adults, children and families within the community. Responsibilities include new program development, case management, staff/volunteer and program supervision, collaboration with other community social service providers, and monitoring of program outcomes, procedures and budget.

Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work required.
  • Master’s degree in social work (MSW), preferred.
Work Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in social work or the social services field.
  • Direct care in a human service setting as well as supervisory/management experience.
  • Knowledge of social service field/community resources.

  • Ability to develop budgets, reports, and maintain and monitor statistical data and fiscal records related to social services.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability related to the principles and delivery of strengths‑based case management.
  • Results oriented, with demonstrated ability to work well with people at all levels of the organization. Proven expertise in building and maintaining positive relationships with diverse individuals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications and data management systems.
  • Valid driver’s license and use of official vehicle may be required. Ability to travel as needed.
  • Able to work extended hours if needed and during the holiday season or times of disaster.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Bi‑lingual, preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities Casework
  • Interview clients and assess needs and resources.
  • Provide emergency assistance, counseling, advocacy to clients according to needs assessed.
  • Make referrals to area agencies for further services.
  • Schedule appointments for clientele as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential daily records of clients including forms, files, correspondence, and statistical information.
  • Recognize spiritual needs of persons which may require referral to Corps Officers.
Program Support
  • Assist with implementation and coordination of social ministries programs at Corps.
  • Maintain inventory for feeding program and emergency food pantry, supporting Corps officers in grant and in‑kind donation development.
  • Network with and cultivate collaborative relationships with key personnel at other social service agencies and community-based organizations in the corps area.
  • Attend community meetings as requested by Corps Officers.
Pathway of Hope
  • Identify and interact with families and individuals to assess requirements, find internal and external social services programs, assess urgent needs, and listen to clients’ concerns.
  • Develop a detailed plan of action to address identified root causes and needs, set goals and outcomes for clients, and find necessary resources.
