Skilled Construction Specialist

Summary

Performs a variety of assignments requiring advanced knowledge of the construction field. This is a full-time hourly position, reporting to the Senior Distribution Project Manager in Boston, MA. This position is a member of the Bargaining Unit Member of the IUOE, Local 877. The compensation for this position is $48.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

• All activities covered under Unskilled Laborer and Skilled Laborer including:
  • Skilled in carpentry work as it pertains to framing and forming.
  • Skilled in concrete work as it pertains to forming, reinforcing, and placing cast in place concrete.
  • Knowledge and ability to safely perform vacuum excavation activities
  • Experienced in safe excavation techniques, including digging, trenching, shoring, back filling, etc.
  • Insulates Piping as required.
• Masonry skills necessary to install or repair brick word, set manhole castings, and set curbing.
• Knowledgeable of and able to properly place asphalt and sidewalk finishes in accordance with City requirements
• Assist in the training of other Laborer(s) and Construction specialists.
• Assist others as required.
• All other related duties.

Basic Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Minimum 5 years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• OSHA 10 certification
• OSHA Competent person certification
• OSHA Hazwopper Certification

Other Qualifications

• Shoring and Excavation training.
• Rigging training on straps chains and hosting mechanisms.
• Able to follow DOT regulations when required.

Physical Requirements

• Must possess a valid driver license in good standing in order to operate a company vehicle. Must have and maintain a driving record meeting the standards of the company.
• Must submit to company provided pre-employment physical exam and drug screening.
• Required to wear a half face respirator or powered air respirators (PAPR) or proper safety procedures warrant use.
• Required to lift and / or operate machinery, tools, etc., weighing up to 80 pounds, unassisted.
• Required to work in confined spaces.
• Required climbing ladders, and / or stairs.
• Required to work in all adverse conditions, both indoors and outdoors all seasons.
• Required to work in hot areas.
