HVAC Technician

Job Description Summary

Wentworth Institute of Technology seeks applicants for a full-time HVAC Technician.

Reporting directly to the Facilities Manager, the HVAC technician is responsible to:

• Respond to, trouble‑shoot, and repair HVAC calls across the 1.1M sq. ft. campus.
• Install/replace/repair all types of HVAC related equipment including environmental boxes.
• Operate and monitor JCI and Schneider Eco Struxure controls.
• Participate on small in‑house construction team to complete minor renovation projects such as hanging/piping fan coils, duct work and controls.
• Complete PM work orders as assigned.
• Daily time entry in CMMS.
• Perform similar or related duties as required.

This is a full‑time position (Tuesday – Saturday), with “on call” hours as needed.

High school diploma or GED

Vocational or technical training

5 years of HVAC related experience

3+ years experience rebuilding/replacing large pump seals and couplings.
1+ years with sheet metal and duct fabrication.
5+ years experience performing basic maintenance welding.
3+ years experience rebuilding/repacking valves.
3+ year experience with boiler water treatment process and monitoring.

Working knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures and ability to apply in varied situations. Uses instructions and guidelines to perform the job safety function. Periodic training will be required.

Position requires 5+ years of experience and extensive knowledge in the maintenance, installations and cleaning of various types of heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and systems.

• Must have current, valid Massachusetts Driver’s License.
• Must possess a current, valid Massachusetts Journeyman’s Refrigeration License.
• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Reading, writing and comprehension of the English language is required as well as the ability to compute addition, subtraction, multiplication and division functions using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
• Must be able to read blueprints and HVAC diagrams, and demonstrate ability to use or be willing to learn Wentworth CMMS.
• Basic computer knowledge and operation skills.
• Must work with minimal supervision.

Trade or vocational school is strongly preferred.
